Providing Dentistry for All Ages in Niagara Falls

At Frizzell Family Dental, we can provide dental care to patients of all ages. From babies to seniors and any age in between, our Niagara Falls dentist and office team has the knowledge to give your teeth the proper care.

Dental Care for Babies & Children

The Canadian Dental Association recommends that babies be evaluated by a dentist within 6 months of the eruption of the first tooth or by one year of age. This will allow the dentist to catch problems early so they can be addressed and will let you know if the cleaning you do at home is working.

Taking your child to the dentist every six months not only helps to detect early problems, but also teaches children that going to the dentist regularly is a good habit. As your child ages, X-rays will be taken to show possible decay between teeth and whether teeth are coming in the way they should. If your dentist believes crowded or crooked teeth could cause problems they may refer you to an orthodontist to help straighten and align the teeth properly.

It is important to address all cavities, even in baby teeth. Some may think that since the tooth will eventually fall out, there is no reason to get a filling, but that is not the case. A filling will prevent further decay and loss of the tooth. If not filled, the decay will spread and the tooth will have to be removed and often a space maintainer will be placed to hold space for the permanent tooth.

Dental Care for Seniors

As we age, we are at a greater risk for developing dental problems. It is important to continue seeing your dentist for regular checkups and cleanings to ensure problems are detected and addressed early. Daily brushing and flossing is essential in maintaining good oral health and when combined with regular visits to your dentist will help prevent tooth decay and gum disease.
